Between conferences, pitches and workshops, Turismo de Portugal challenges Web Summit participants to try Portuguese cuisine. Between 1 and 4 November, a team of 200 students and 10 trainers from the Portuguese Tourism Schools will provide catering for the event. The objective is to promote the assets of Portugal as a tourist destination, promoting the country’s natural resources as inspiration, as well as promote the offer of training in tourism in schools, revealing the capacity to train and attract talent.
During these days Turismo de Portugal also implements the 280ToChangePortugal action. A contest of ideas to promote Sustainable Tourism in Portugal, using the 280 characters available on Twitter, targeted to the audience of WebSummit. Each participant only has to send a tweet with their idea for the country, explained in 280 characters, without any image or link, identify @VisitPortugal and use #280ToChangePortugal. The authors of the top ten ideas receive an invitation to visit Portugal as digital nomads, with the possibility of working for a month at StartUp Portugal’s coworking space in Lisbon and a ticket to the next Web Summit. The jury is composed of Anna O’Hare, VP of Content Marketing for Websummit, the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, and the President of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Araújo.
Throughout this international event, Portugal will position itself as one of the best destinations in the world for nomads and digital creatives, which is due, among others, to the standard of living, geographic and technological conditions.
