Future of tourism in 2021

2020 was a very difficult year for everyone due to the pandemic outbreak of COVID-19. We have completed one whole year with the presence of the virus and many aspects were affected by this situation socially, economically, psychologically.

In most countries, especially the Mediterranean ones, summer period is considered to be the most attractive for tourism and the summer of 2020 was a different one in terms of traveling, with all the health restrictions and existed fear.

Although no one knows exactly how the situation will evolve and what to expect from the summer of 2021, the one thing that is certain is that we have not yet defeated the pandemic and government regulations, health awareness and cautious attitudes will remain.

Traveling should be sustainable, that is for sure. Tourism is an industry that constitutes a large part of economy for many countries and even with the many restrictions should continue its operation. The optimistic aspect will be that since many countries have progressed with vaccinations, a sense of security has been developed and travelers are more eager to start strolling around again.

Tourism ministries in many countries have expressed their optimism and referred to the fact that they will utilize the gained experience from summer of 2020 to update health protocols, adjust the restrictions and finally provide a safe travelling experience for all tourists.
